How to Mix High and Low End Fashion

over the knee boots

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while then you know my style is what I like to call “Fancy Frugal”. I like to mix high end fashion with lower end fashion deals to give an overall “fancy” look for a fraction of the price. Recently I got the opportunity to team up with JCPenney to check out some of their new Fall fashion. I was pleasantly surprised to find so many on-trend Fall pieces at a really good price.

Since I first moved to New York, one thing has remained the same… Soho is my favorite neighborhood. A Guide To Day Dresses For Every Occasion

IMG_9005

One of the best things about summer is the dresses. From beautiful ball gowns to casual maxi dresses, there are so many designs and styles to choose from. When it comes to spring and summer, being able to wear a dress without fear of freezing to death is amazing. Of course, you can wear dresses in the winter, but the chances that you’ll get cold are high.

The fantastic thing about the warmer months is that whatever event or occasion you’re attending, there’s a way to style a day dress for it. Obviously, there are lots of fancier dress designs to choose from. But more often than not, day dresses end up looking the most beautiful for the majority of occasions. Be it a plain pastel-hued design or a cute floral print piece, there are lots of beautiful dress designs to choose from. (more…)

22 Must Have on Trend Jackets and Coats

What Coat to Wear

As a southern born girl I hate the cold but love the fall and winter accessories. Living in New York City the past few years I’ve learned the value of a good coat! Having both style and functionality is KEY. You want something that will keep you warm in the various parts of Fall and Winter (light jacket, medium jacket, and walking sleeping bag jacket is how I like to think of it). But since your outfit is covered up by a coat most of the day, you also want it to be cute! No matter where you live, you’ll probably end up wearing a coat for at least a little bit during the year, so it might as well be something you love. This year the leather moto jacket was a super big trend (I myself went out and bought this leather jacket  from Shopbop during their last sale). In addition to the leather jacket, bombers, trench, oversized, and even blazers were also popular. I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite in each style to share with you. Keep reading to see my picks for this season’s jacket trends!

How I Style Over the Knee Boots

Style Over the Knee Boots

Details: Olive Dress | Dolce Vita Over the Knee Boots | Black Hat | Necklace

I’ve been really into wearing over the knee boots (or OTK for short) since last winter. I got these brown leather Dolce Vita boots from Shopbop last year (they’re sold out now but you can still get them on sale here).  In the past I always styled my OTK boots with leggings or jeans, but I recently got into wearing them with dresses. The dress I wore here is from Necessary Clothing (btw if you like it you should get it now because it’s almost sold out!) . The dress has a mock neck top and a curved hemline that ends with two slits on the side. It is made to fit really snug and show off all your curves. I decided to size up in order to have it slightly less “painted on” looking lol.
