My Must Have Apps

Poshmark- Poshmark is an app where you can buy and/or sell fashion/beauty products. It’s great for trying out new products since products for sale are usually always below the face value and lets be real…who doesn’t like that?! I’ve bought a few things on Postmark and it was a pleasant experience every time.

How to Dress Like a Start-up Guy

Startupguy look

Banana Republic recently posted this look book to finally answer the question: what does one wear as a twenty something silicon valley aspiring millionaire. The answer: lots of denim like slacks and jackets without ties. Above are a few standouts from the collection, see the whole thing here and check out Fast Company’s break down here.

Fashion and Technology: Manicure App Mani Diaries

Manicure Diaries

Diaries are far from a new concept, historically people have been putting pen to paper to keep track of their days for centuries (like the incredible Anne Frank for example). I myself chronicled every insignificant part of my adolescent life in volumes of journals, and continue to do so now through Fancy Francy and other online outlets. And judging by the millions of people currently on social media, I’m clearly not alone. New social sharing sights pop up everyday helping users transform the internet into their own not so personal life diary and now their is a new one to add to this list, made especially for the “manicuremonday crowd. Mani Diaries is a new iPhone app providing a support group supportive platform for all you nail art instagramers. The app allows you to take your mani game to an all new level by tracking, managing, and sharing pictures and details about your manicures and pedicures. Now you don’t have to scroll through 38 pictures of cats just to get to the good stuff, manicure diaries shows beautiful nails all day, every day.
Fancy Francy Mani Diaries
I got to test out the app (not to mention snag a free mani #PraiseHim) during a recent holiday beauty press event. Mani Diaries in partnership with Essie, provided mini manis featuring polishes from their Winter 2013 shearling darling collection. After getting my “nails did”, I had my nails snapped for inclusion on mani diaries.
Although I myself don’t have the discipline needed to keep my nails manicured and chip free all the time, I think this is a really cool social network app for those who do. I love the fact that it is a management tool for nail fashion enthusiasts (I’m all about the OCD like tracking of things) and its creating a community around people’s shared love of manicured nails.  If you’re interested in checking out this app, you can snag it free in the iTunes app store.
Comment below and let me know what you think about this app, is this something you plan to use?

Fancy Francy Lookercase Giveaway

Saying good bye to Summer can be hard. For many of us, summer is our chance each year to travel, hang out with friends, and enjoy the overall good weather. To make the transition into Fall just a little bit easier, I wanted to share with all of you one of my favorite accessories of all time… my iphone case! Okay, so you may be wondering how a phone case can be so awesome but trust me, it is! Since I started using this case over 6 months ago I’m absolutely in love.

The Looker case is awesome because of its incredible functionality. Not only is the case sleek and easy to hold, but it has an actual mirror that you’ll quickly wonder how you ever lived without. If that wasn’t enough, the icing on the cake is a card slot perfect for holding your metro card or I.D

Never has a phone case gotten as much attention from friends, family, and strangers like the Looker case. Everywhere I go people are constantly remarking on how “cool” it is that I have a mirror and a place to keep my metro card. To be honest, I never knew what I was missing in a phone case until I tried The Looker Case from Mobile Togs out.

Mobiletogs Designer case

In honor of the launch of their newest phone case, The Designer, Togs has decided to partner with Fancy Francy to giveaway my favorite case. The ” Designer” iPhone case still features a mirror back and slot for credit cards, like The Looker, but also has the option of completely customizing the case design to fit your style or mood! To learn more about the case, check out the kickstarter campaign here: http://kck.st/14UIxNc

Fashion and Technology: Plurro

20130731-120448.jpg

The only thing better than getting a discount, is getting an even bigger discount. Whenever I shop online or in stores I’m constantly checking to see if I can somehow get an additional percentage off with a discount code or group affiliation discount. If you’re anything like me then Plurro was basically made for you. Plurro helps fancy frugal people like me create their own “cash mob”. Cash mobs are basically group rate discounts given
to groups when they band together with friends, family, and even strangers to get a group rate discount. With a cash mob, you can increase the discount you get at stores by increasing the size of the group.

How it Works:
People download the Plurro app, then find Cash Mobs to join with friends, family, colleagues and other shoppers to increase the discounts they receive.

If the idea of this sounds good to you (and why would it not) you can download the app at http://www.plurro.com and start “mobbin” now. If you live in the NYC area you can also check out the cash mob happening this week at Second Time Around, details below.

Where: Second Time Around, 238 West 72nd Street, New York, NY
When: Thursday, August 1, 2013; 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Who: Anyone can join the Cash Mob using Plurro’s app, available on the Web at http://www.plurro.com and for iPhone in the App Store.
The current discount is guaranteed at 20% off; but if between 25 and 50 people sign on to come to the Cash Mob, the discount will increase to 25%; if 50 or more people sign up, the discount will climb to 30% off.

New Online Stomping Ground: MissguidedUS.com

20130403-212343.jpg

If you’ve been following fancy francy for a while, then you’ve probably noticed our obsession err umm fondness for UK bloggers, UK stores, and overall UK fashion. So you can imagine our excitement when we heard one of our favorite online UK stores was crossing over the pond (so to speak) and launching a US version of their site, MissguidedUS.

20130404-132954.jpg

If you’re not familiar with Missguided yet, it’s a fast fashion site, that stocks a lot of the latest trends but at a reasonable price. We fell in love with them because of their “badass” vibe, trendy clothes, and overall dopeness. True to many UK stores, they seem to have their pulse right on the latest fashions and often stock killer trends before it hits other mainstream stores.

Fashion and Technology: The Looker iPhone Case Review

If you’re anything like me, then even the thought of leaving your phone at home causes you to have a mild panic attack and impulsively reach for your iPhone. Despite my extreme attachment disorder concerning my phone and my love for getting dressed up, I surprisingly have never been too concerned with what case my phone is “wearing.” So when I was given the opportunity to review a new high function case for on the go fashionistas, I figured anything that would make my baby phone even more amazing was worth testing out.

The first thing I noticed about this case (besides the massive mirror of course) was how soft the material and how comfortable the case subsequently felt in my hand. The second thing I noticed was how much other people seemed to notice my case.

The Good: Never has a phone case gotten as much attention from friends, family, and strangers like the Looker case. Everywhere I go people are constantly remarking on how “cool” it is that I have a mirror and a place to keep my metro card. To be honest, I never knew what I was missing in a phone case until I tried The Looker Case from Mobile Togs out. It seems so simple and intuitive to have a realmirror on a phone case however this is the first case to actually do so. Through out my days of running around at work and the city at night, I’m constantly checking myself out to make sure everything is still as it should be and never have any issues finding my metrocard for the subway.

The Bad: My case got dirty fast! I’m talking by day three it looked like my phone had been rolling around the new york city streets bottom of a landfill. Okay so maybe that was an exaggeration but my phone case almost instantly had a dirty grayish-black color that did not go away. That was a huge bummer for me because although I love the case, I don’t like walking around with an iPhone case that looks dirty. Which brings me to my second gripe, I wish the cases came in more colors and with more designs or the option to customize your case. I choose the orange Tangerine case partially because I like the color and partially because there were limited overall choices. I think in the future if they come out with a black case I would try that as I’m assuming the darker colors would have less issues with starting to look “dingy” or “dirty”.

Overall I really like the case and at the price of $19.99 I feel like its a good investment to make on a case that is really high functioning (can you say “selfies” and OOTD photos for instagram and twitter are sooo much better with a built in mirror) and comfortable to hold.

Comment below and let me know what you think about this case, will you be trying it out?!
