It’s summer time and you know what that means…fun, bright, nail colors! Whether you show these colors off at a summer patio BBQ, your cousin’s wedding, or a sandy beach in the Caribbean, you’re sure to earn compliments many with these 5 phenomenal nail polishes.
– Smashbox Lip Lacquer in “Off Duty”: I’m obsessed with nude lips and bold red; there is no in between in my life. So when I lost my favorite “my lips but better lipgloss” I marched myself to Sephora the next day to find a replacement. Twenty-two lipglosses later (plus some pretty sore lips) I finally found a shade in a formula that I liked.
– FAB Facial Radiance Skin pads: So you know how you’re suppose to tone your skin in between your wash and serum/moisturizer step? Well I (like most people I assume) often skip right over this step. These little pads make it quick and easy to do, all while gently chemically exfoliating your face. It’s safe for sensitive skin and reminds me of a 90’s Noxzema commercial so yea, I’d say they are pretty “fab”.
– Elf Radiant Glow Primer: You guys already know all about this one (and if you don’t here’s the review). Goddess glow for $6?? What’s not to love?
If you live on the east coast, then you probably woke up Sunday morning and got Mother Nature’s memo that Fall is officially here. With that comes the need for more layers and accessories to keep warm in the chilly months ahead.
But of all the Fall weather accessories, one stands “heads” above the rest. This season the wide brim hat is all the rage. For a couple of years now wide brim hats have been pretty popular, holding down the 2nd spot after the beanie. But unlike before, the wide brim has taken the number one spot as “the must-have” hat.
Personally, I love wearing my hat has it gives every outfit an extra “boost” of style. Looking to try it out? Check out more hat inspiration below.
Ripped jeans have been on trend for quite some time now, but seem to be getting updated. In the past rips and distressing were spread throughout the jeans but now the concentration is on the jeans.
While it is a subtle change, you may not notice, it’s definitely a more tame version of the look.
Thinking of trying this trend? Keep these jeans looking slightly more polished by pairing them with heels or a nice blouse. You can also layer on a nice jacket or scarf to bring the trend into Fall.

September was an exciting month. Between fashion week, events, and just life in general September had a lot going on. During this month I experimented more with beauty routine than I had in quite some time. I fell in love with quite a few new staples that I’m so happy I found.
Blender cleanser solid: cleaning my brushes is something that I know I’m suppose to do, but
often err umm occasionally forget to do. Now that I’m actually using my beauty blenders more often, I decided to invest in a proper cleaning product for them. Sponges in particular need to be kept clean but the idea of pouring liquid soap into one seemed wasteful. After a little bit of research I decided to try the beauty blender solid soap (think of it like a bar soap for your sponges and brushes). The product worked really well on my beauty blender and made it look almost brand new.
Beauty blender sponge: believe it or not, I never fully understood the beauty blender craze. I received several a few fashion weeks back but rarely ever used them. Sure, it worked great for blending stubborn stick foundation, but outside of that, I was good with my brushes. Recently I was watching some YouTube beauty gurus for inspo and couldn’t help but laugh at how everrryyyyyone seemed to STILL be obsessed. I decided to give mine a deep cleaning and a second chance. I changed up my previous technique (now I wet the sponge with plan water to start and tried it for wet product application). Wahla, magic! Words can not express the level of b-l-e-n-d I achieved. But seriously, as obvious as this may sound, this little guy works amazing for blending. I guess the name was a not so subtle hint but it still deserves to be repeated.
Si perfume: on my way back from vacation two months ago, I had a ridiculously long wait in the airport. With nothing to do and nothing but time I decide to check out the duty free shops. I’ve yet to establish a signature fragrance so I thought this was as good as time as any to look. After trying out almost every perfume in the shop, I settled on this new one from Givenchy. So far I am still loving this scent for everyday use.
e.l.f blush: I bought this a few months ago and just recently started wearing it. Although all of the colors are very wearable in the palette, I am particularly in love with the dusty rose like color. It has a natural blush color and just a hint of golden shimmer.
Pedi Scrub: I received this from a beauty box 5 subscription box and have been using it for the past few months. One side is a moisturizer and one side is a scrubber, making it super easy to use quickly in the shower.
You know how sometimes you pass by a stranger wearing something so insanely perfect for YOU, you can’t help but stare? Living in New York City, where the average person dresses like the are walking on some invisible catwalk, this happens about a million times a day. More often than not the person is too far, the train is too crowded, etc for you to ask them where they got it from without coming off as a total “stranger danger”.
Recently I had an especially bad case of bag envy when I saw a girl on the train with the most buttery leather tote I’ve ever seen in my life. I couldn’t help but stare at the bag as it effortlessly added chicness and cool to this random girl’s life by it’s mere existence. I locked
eyes (err umm “strap”?) with the bag the whole one stop till I had to get off and get to work. I wistfully thought about the bag on my walk and made a mental note to keep an eye out for something similar. Fast forward a few days later, I walked into Urban Outfitters and to my gleeful surprise I was tearfully reunited with this amazing beautiful bag.
It turns out this angelic bag is made by a company named “BAGGU“. I had never heard of it but according to Urban’s website it’s a “Brooklyn-based reusable bag company” that started in 2007 and specializes in making high-quality canvas and leather bags. The bags are also lead-free and ethically made, if you’re into that (and who wouldn’t be?)
After “visiting” this bag, three times last week, I’ve decided to go ahead and purchase it as a happy first of the month present to myself. And before you ask, yes, that is a thing… at least now it is 😉
April went by faster than the speed of light, and May seems to be going at the same pace (Feliz Cinco de Mayo!) Last month there were a few items that I found myself constantly grabbing for (aka permanently attached to).
Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish: The first item I talked about a few weeks ago when I first got introduced to it through Birchbox. Though I have been using this for the past few weeks, since it is a moisturizing cream based cleanser and the weather is warming up, I will probably switch to something lighter for the months to come.
Sephora Rose Gold Cream Blush: This is the first cream blush I’ve tried and though there was some getting use to (umm can we talk about how much brush hair gets stuck in this thing) I’ve really been loving the subtly color of this blush and the long-lasting power of a cream vs powder.
Clinique Stay Matte Oil Free Foundation: I had been eyeing this product for a while and finally decided to take the plunge and buy it, and I’m sooo happy I did. As someone who doesn’t wear foundation everyday, I wanted something that would be light and help to even out my skintone on those rough monday mornings. Although it’s considered a foundation, this product is more of a tinted moisturizer/ BB cream with buildable coverage. Love this product for Spring/early Summer weather.
Clinique High Impact Mascara: Another gem by Clinique, I was gifted a sample of this mascara through some means and finally tried it last month. After using the sample up, I went out and bought the mascara and haven’t looked back since.
Lush Cupcake face mask: Also another item I was introduced to through gifting. As someone who never really got the deal when it came to masks, I can honestly say that this product produces a noticeable difference with my skin immediately. After using this product my face is brighter and tighter.
And there you have it. My favorite beauty goodies for the month of April. Comment below and let me know if you have tried these products or plan to. What were your favorite beauty products from last month?
We’re well into March, and although March sounds like a “warm month” (at least in my southern minded head) it’s actually still pretty chilly. So to spice up your weekend wardrobe with out freezing your butt, try a quilted leather skirt as you brunch and party it up this weekend. A quilted leather skirt is a fun twist on the leather skirt trend that’s been ohhh soo popular for so long now.
Pleated Leather and vegan leather skirt options for all budgets:
