To say the summer has been flying by seems like such a cliché but it’s really true. With the sun and heat to combat during the day, I haven’t changed my beauty products too much (I haven’t even been wearing makeup as much) during the summer but there are still a few products that I’ve been reaching for over and over.
Liquid lipstick acts like a lipgloss but has the staying power of a stain. They aren’t exactly a “new trend” (they’ve been around forever) but they are definitely becoming more popular. If you haven’t tried one of these before now’s the perfect time to do it! These products are great for carefree days of summer because they’re super easy to apply and stay on better than regular lipstick (so you don’t have to worry about reapplying even after eating or drinking).
The right foundation is like a girl’s best friend; dependable and always has your back. With summer in full effect and the dog days still to come, I’ve been opting to forgo foundation more often than not. Back in the early summer before I broke up with my foundation I picked up the Benefit Cosmetics ‘Hello Flawless!’Liquid Foundation. It’s a product that had been on my radar for a while so I finally took the plunge and bought it.
The product is descried as “a brightening, oil-free liquid foundation that builds from light to medium coverage with broad-spectrum SPF 25 protection.” I loved the idea of it because it has SPF already built-in, something that can be hard to find in a foundation. The coverage is light to medium so it’s ideal for more everyday use. The foundation comes in a standard pump bottle for easy application which I also like.
I was excited to see if the foundation would live up to its long and boastful name. (more…)
Do you ever “shop” your own makeup collection? Over the years I’ve gotten into a routine with my makeup and tend to use the same makeup over and over. So this month I really pushed myself to try some of the products collecting dust items outside of my go to list. There’s been some misses, but overall several hits and many of them made it to my May Beauty Favorites list. There are so many products that I’m happy to have tried for the first time or recently rediscovered. Keep reading to see my May Beauty Favorites.
L’Oreal Infallible pro spray and set: This is one drugstore gem I’ve had on my vanity table for quite awhile and just finally got around to using. My usual setting spray ran out so I decided to give it a go and I’m so glad that I did. The spray get’s the job done without breaking me out.
Cover Fx Matte setting Powder: I got this product along with my CoverFx foundation drops a couple of weeks back. I find myself using this whenever I go out, even if I’m not wearing foundation to help keep shine at bay. My favorite time to use this is under my eyes whenever I use a highlighter concealer. I under my eyes to help it look more natural.
Pop Beauty Lip Plumper in “Honey Rose”: Plump lips might be a thing right now thanks to Kylie Jenner, but it’s something I’ve always had naturally so rarely ventured to try any lip plumpers. I loved the packaging and color of this product so I decided to give this one a try. I’m so happy that I did because it’s a perfect better than bare nude lip gloss.
NYX Matte liquid liner: In the ten years I’ve been wearing liquid liner I’ve had the same favorite one. Despite trying countless other eyeliners, I’ve never tried one that compared to the NYC liquid liner until now. I love this liner and how easy it is to apply, definitely makes me feel like a winged eyeliner champ.
Milani Blush in Luminoso: This may be my favorite of all on my May Beauty Favorites list. I bought this blush years ago after a Youtuber recommend it and never really used it. I grabbed this recently on accident and discovered it’s the perfect non shimmery everyday highlighter.
Sephora Full Coverage Airbrush: Don’t let the name of this brush confuse you, it has nothing to do with those spray airbrush makeups. I got this brush during the makeup show and have been loving it as a brush for my highlighter. The shape and bristles make it perfect for adding just the right amount to only the areas you want to highlight.
Overall I’ve had a ton of fun forcing myself to try “new” products outside of my normal go-tos. Comment below and let me know if you’ve tried any of these products? What were your May Beauty Favorites?
Now that the warm weather is finally here it’s time to start complaining managing the effects of the heat. For me my number one concern during the warmer months is keeping shine and sweat at bay (okay that’s technically two things but they go hand and hand). I’ve tried countless shine reducing products in the past, and continue to test out new ones. Think of me as the Indiana Jones of mattifying products. The trick to staying matte is to “layer up” with your products so I like to use multiple oil control products at once. I have a great oil control lotion from Murad that I’m currently using, but I’m still on the hunt for my perfect mattifying primer.
Recently while cruising the aisles at Sephora (pretty much my only hobby), I was chit chatting with one of the makeup artist and got to discussing primers. She insisted that the best mattifying one currently in the biz was the Givenchy Mister Mat. Never one to turn down a free sample, I took it home and tested it. After a week of meticulously stretching the tiny sample, I went back and purchased the full size product.
Product: The Mister Mat primer is suppose to be light weight and breathable while still mattifying the face; I can say that it definitely delivered in those areas. My favorite thing about the Mister Mat primer is the fact that it came up completely clear on my skin without leaving a “film” or “ashy look” like some other primers have tried in the past.
Seen all over Spring 2015 runway, Gladiator Sandals are a must have this spring! Whether you are going for the minimal bohemian look or super chic, there is a gladiator sandal for each outfit. From lace up, to suede, to embellishments,or even heeled gladiators, there is no way not to find the perfect sandal for you! Keep reading to see outfit ideas for every type of gladiator sandal.
With tall heeled gladiators, a simple outfit is best. Wear loose fitting shorts and a classic tank top, paired with a necklace. Add an animal print bag to make the outfit really pop.
This outfit is a perfect bohemian look. Wear a maxi skirt, crochet crop top, and studded gladiator sandals. For this look a simple cross body bag will go best! Top of the whole look with an arm cuff, the quintessential boho accessory.
Last but definitely not least, the lace up gladiator sandal is probably the biggest variation of this trend this season. A cute white mini dress, statement necklace, and simple bag, will have you on trend for this spring and summer!
Personally, my favorite variation of this trend is the tall lace up Gladiator Sandal. The look of that style really makes me feel like I’m back in Ancient Greece rocking this trend the first time it appeared!!

The Kat Von D brand has been around for a while but I actually just got hip to it not that long ago (slipping I know). I have the Kat Von D tattoo liner so I was super excited to try the Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette when it was given to me by the good people at The Makeup Show.
The product is described as an eye contouring palette. The idea of “contouring your eyes” may sound a little strange, but it’s basically the same thing you probably already do with your eyeshadow. It just refers to adding depth to your eye by placing a darker color, usually on the crease and outer corner of your eye area. When it comes to my eyeshadow look I actually always put a darker color on my crease and outer corner of my eye because I find it makes my almond shaped eyes look bigger.
Easter may not be a holiday famous for fashion, but it most definitely should be! It’s a time when spring has just arrived and summer is right around the corner. Holidays mean family and friend time, so why wouldn’t you want to look good? You gotta dress to impress this Easter for family, friends, and most importantly, the Easter bunny and with these outfit ideas, it’ll be easy breezy!
Starting off, I absolutely adore this color palette. The blue and orange go so well together and the nude handbag/shoes calm everything down. If it gets a little chilly, just put on a cute, light white cardigan. If dresses aren’t really your thing, this second outfit is perfect for you! With a white loose blouse and a pop of color in the pants, people will be hop-hop-hopping over to ask you where you got this outfit from! The pastel pink and mint green go oh so well together and the brown wedges are just to die for!
Hope everyone who celebrates has a great Easter and let us know in the comments if you have any go to Easter outfits!
