22 Must Have on Trend Jackets and Coats

What Coat to Wear

As a southern born girl I hate the cold but love the fall and winter accessories. Living in New York City the past few years I’ve learned the value of a good coat! Having both style and functionality is KEY. You want something that will keep you warm in the various parts of Fall and Winter (light jacket, medium jacket, and walking sleeping bag jacket is how I like to think of it). But since your outfit is covered up by a coat most of the day, you also want it to be cute! No matter where you live, you’ll probably end up wearing a coat for at least a little bit during the year, so it might as well be something you love. This year the leather moto jacket was a super big trend (I myself went out and bought this leather jacket  from Shopbop during their last sale). In addition to the leather jacket, bombers, trench, oversized, and even blazers were also popular. I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite in each style to share with you. Keep reading to see my picks for this season’s jacket trends!

With warmer weather on the rise, festival season has arrived! There are countless numbers of fashionable outfits to wear to festivals.  This super chic fringe skirt, with a flowy off the shoulder top, a statement necklace, sunglasses, and sandels is a perfect 70s inspired outfit for a festival.

High waisted jean shorts are still a summer staple and are a go to for any festival. To bring the look together, try pairing the outfit with a classic kimono, a crop top, and cute booties! For the sun, the prefect sun hat and sunglasses will do the trick. A trendy bib necklace and rings, with a small cross body bag will complete the fashionable festival outfit.

For a simple outfit a boho dress, trendy gladiator sandals, sunglasses, and a statement necklace is the way to go for a comfortable, but still fashionable outfit.

If it gets a little chilly, just put on a cute, light white cardigan.Easter Outfit 1If dresses aren’t really your thing, this second outfit is perfect for you! With a white loose blouse and a pop of color in the pants, people will be hop-hop-hopping over to ask you where you got this outfit from! What to Wear This Weekend: Sweater and Shorts

Weekend Wardrobe Inspiration

Weekend brunch, trips to the park, and late night dates all call for a certain amount of “chic comfort”. But in this hazy time between still warm and “sweater weather” it’s hard to find just the right balance. So what’s a girl to wear? Try a blast from the past and upgrade the old “sweatshirt and shorts” look from school days with this purposeful “long meets short” look.

Go from day to night by adding a leather jacket and scarf. Looking for extra credit? Switch out the nude lip for a bold red to really up the amp.

Out and About: Yuna Yang Q&A at the Mandarin Hotel

Now that the madness of Fashion Week is over, and I’ve had time to settle back into my regularly scheduled life, I would like to introduce an addition to the Fancy Francy team!!! In an effort to have more content I have been trying to “beef up” the behind the scenes Fancy Francy team and now I am excited to announce my first regularly reoccurring guest writer, Anne!! Anne is my sister and by default my in-house “photog”. In addition to taking pictures for Fancy Francy she is also a talented writer and will be a contributing editor on Fancy Francy. During fashion week Anne attended a number of events I was unable to attend and got to get up close and personal with a number of designers, including Yuna Yang. She’s excited to finally have a chance to give you all a rundown and details on a few events! First up, the Yuna Yang Q&A at the Mandarin Hotel!

So how often do you get a chance to talk to an actual fashion designer who is showing at New York Fashion Week, in a posh environment with other fashion loving attendees? If you’re me then never, so needless to say I was beyond excited when Francy asked me to go in her place. As I said, the venue was very nice! The Mandarin Hotel in conjunction with HTC did a fabulous job of ensuring a quality environment for this event. They provided snacks and coffee (which was totally needed because I really was having that “2 o’clock feeling” by the time I got there), a place to charge your phone, and just an overall tranquil oasis in the midst of the craziness that was NYFW.
Ok now to the meat and potatoes of this event, I mean snacks and coffee are great but meeting Yuna Yang was awesome! If you don’t know Yuna Yang’s work, here are few of her pieces that she showed this season. (I’m obsessed with the blue lace dress!)

The initial interview was conducted by Jenny from Jenny by Design. The beginning of the interview focused on what inspires her work. She said that she is inspired by art in all of its forms; she described the process in which she developed her current collection, which was inspired by music from a rock band called Civil Twilight. She went on to describe how interesting it was to develop tangible art (the pieces for her collection)  from such an intangible artistic form like music.

Additionally, she discussed her background in fine arts. Prior to entering into the fashion world, she received a B.A. in Fine Arts, and upon moving to Milan, she became inspired by the style of the women in the city and shifted her artistic outlet to fashion. I spoke to her briefly after the interview, and she talked at little more about this aspect of her transition. She stated that she loved fashion because it was like creating fine works of art that people could actually live in. Luckily for us, she made the switch to fashion because her pieces are truly works of art!
Comment below and let me know what you think of the Yuna Yang S/S 13 collection?

Lately I’ve been consumed with purchasing the perfect chic carry all handbag for work. As you may remember from this Fall’s Bag it list post, the shopper bag is everywhere this season. I can’t get enough of this bag, and have already purchased a few and added several to my “next paycheck shopping list” budget. Since I can’t purchase them all (for good reason… have you seen the shows on Extreme Hoarding?? It’s a scary slippery slop I do not wish to go down), I wanted to share with you my list of 20 Shopper Bags to get right now! Keep reading to see each bag individually and the link to purchase it!
